WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) -- A father and his girlfriend are facing child abuse charges after investigators said the man's daughter was found wandering the streets near his home alone.
Whiteville Police said William Brown and Jamie Wilson are both facing misdemeanor child abuse charges. They were both placed in jail under a $500 secured bond each.
Investigators said Wilson's two-year-old daughter was found walking around McKenzie Street at around 10:15 a.m. Officials said the girl was out of the home and by herself for about an hour.
The girl's mother was at work during the time, and the father was supposed to be watching the little girl.
DSS officials took the toddler at the scene, when they then made contact with the mother.
